FAQs
What time do we meet?
Pickup times will vary depending on the length of charter and our goals for the day.
Your Captain will speak with you directly the day before your trip to coordinate meeting time, location and what your goals are for your fishing experience.
What should I bring on the fishing charter?
We recommend bringing sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, a hat, appropriate clothing for the weather, and any personal items you may need, such as snacks or a camera. We provide fishing gear and tackle.
Do I need fishing experience?
No experience is necessary! Our friendly crew will guide you and provide assistance with techniques and baiting. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-timer, we’ll make sure you have a great time.
What type of fish can we expect to catch?
The fish we target depends on the season and location, but common catches include Mahi-Mahi, Snapper, Cobia, Amberjack, Triggerfish, Grouper and more. Check with us for specific seasons and fishing conditions.
How long is the fishing trip?
We offer various trips, for inshore and offshore, including half-day (4 hours), 6 hours, full-day (8 hours), and specialized trips such as sunset and dolphin tours. Please inquire about specific trip lengths and pricing.
What happens if the weather isn't good?
We fish rain or shine. It is unusual for rain to last long in this part of Florida. Your safety and comfort are our top priority. If the captain deems the weather is unsafe, the trip will be rescheduled. In the event we can’t reschedule, we will issue a full refund.
Can we bring alcohol on a fishing charter?
Yes! And to keep your drinks nice and chilly, we provide an iced cooler onboard the boat!
We only ask that you drink responsibly and leave the glass containers at home.
How much do I tip the crew?
A 20% tip of the charter price is customary, but the amount is ultimately up to you based on your satisfaction with the service. Our captain and mates work hard to ensure you have an amazing time while you are with us.
Do you provide fishing licenses?
Every guest is covered!
Your paid fishing trip with Florida Bluewater Charters includes all of the licenses and permits you’ll need for your fishing adventure!
What happens if I don’t catch any fish?
Fishing can be unpredictable, and while our crew works hard to ensure a great experience, we cannot guarantee fish. However, we’ll do everything we can to maximize your chances of a successful day on the water.
Can I bring children on the charter?
Absolutely! We welcome families, and our crew will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for anglers of all ages.
Are there any restrictions on what we can do with the fish we catch?
Depending on the species, there may be size and bag limits set by local regulations. Any fish caught that fall outside these limits will be released back into the water. Our crew will advise you on what’s safe and legal to keep.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Once you have booked a trip with us it means we have reserved a time on our schedule exclusively for you.
In the event a trip needs to be cancelled, the client is responsible for contacting Florida Bluewater Charters at 850-460-5484 or info@bluewater.com.
A deposit of 20% is required when booking a trip. All deposits are nonrefundable. The deposit not only secures your spot with us, but helps with fuel and other expenses.
Trip cancellation policy:
- 30 days +, full refund
- 15 to 29 days, we will issue you a gift certificate to be used at a later date (within 1 year of original booking date)
- 14 days or less, no refund, client will be charged in full
We understand that weather can be unfavorable, so in the event the captain cancels due to severe weather or seas, we will work with you to reschedule to a different day/time or book you for an inshore trip if available. If the trip is cancelled due to weather, your deposit/total balance will be transferred to a future date, valid for up to one year from your original booking date.
Pandemics, Hurricanes or any other Natural Occurrences out of both of our control, a gift certificate will be issued.
Mechanical issues:
Even though mechanical issues are rare they can happen from time to time. Payment is only required for the duration that was spent fishing before the mechanical issue occurred. We will also try and get you out on one of our other boats if possible, or reschedule your trip the same day depending on the timing of the mechanical issue.
How do I book a fishing charter?
Booking is easy! You can reserve your spot online via our website or give us a call to schedule your trip. Early booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons.
How many people can go on a charter?
Maximum number of guests is 6 (plus your Captain & Mate).
Can we extend our trip?
Absolutely!
If you’re on a charter with us and would like to extend your trip…we’ll happily extend your charter (for an additional fee) as long as our booking calendar allows.
Just ask your Captain!
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Absolutely! However, seasonal fishing regulations may dictate which species may be kept as well as size and bag limits – so ask your Captain.
Our crew will happily clean and bag your legal catch at the dock.
